Aranofsky leaves THE WOLVERINE

Darren Aronofsky is bowing out of directing 20th Century Fox’s sequel The Wolverine, saying the project would keep him out of the country for too long.

The Hollywood Reporter

I’ve got to say, I’m really disappointed by this.  Aranofsky is a hell of a film maker, and I can genuinely say I’ve enjoyed every one of his movies so far.  It’s a shame he’s dropped out of the picture, because if anyone could have guaranteed a rebound from the terrible X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE, it would have been Mr. Aranofsky.

It’s important to note that the reasoning he cites is the long, out of country shooting schedule and a desire to not be too far from his family.  Creative differences don’t appear to be the reason, and early reports on the script for THE WOLVERINE (which is based on the legendary WOLVERINE four issue mini series by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller) are still very favorable.  Hopefully, a new director will be announced soon, and it won’t be a rush job to throw someone on there with a history of crappy action movies.

  1. I think I cried a little when I read this news. The few ideas he had mentioned sounded great and I was super pumped for what he would/could do with the character.

Damn shame man, it’s a damn shame!
