The first PREACHER trailer is great, pretty misleading.

During last night’s episode of The Walking Dead (a show which I keep meaning to catch up on, but haven’t watched since the middle of season 3), we finally got our first look at AMC’s next comic book adaptation, Preacher, which is supposedly based on the revered Grant Morrison book of the same name. Morrison’s Preacher is about Jesse Custer, a small town reverend who gets possessed by the supernatural entity Genesis, accidentally murders his entire congregation, and sets off on a quest to make God do his job.

AMC’s trailer leaves out all the stuff about Genesis and God, but does give us our first glimpses of Jesse, Tulip O’Hare and Cassidy, as well as the tone the series is aiming for. Sadly, no official appearance of the live action Arseface yet, but he’s been confirmed long ago to show up.

It’s probably intentional to get buzz out when the first episode hits, so I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Personally, I think the trailer looks great, and I’m really eager to see what they do with material.

Preacher, starring Dominic Cooper (Agent Carter), Ruth Negga (Agents of SHIELD) and Joseph Gilgun (Misfits) makes it’s debut May 2016.
