THE MIGHTY THOR arrives!!

Marvel is getting a lot of things right with their movie franchises.  Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk were undecidedly badass, and Iron Man 2 is on the way to probably do the same thing.  Lots of things are going right for Marvel, and now they’re looking to do it again.  Yup, we just got a hold of the very first still photo of the titular character in the upcoming Thor film, and it’s a pretty fucking sweet preview still.  Directed by Kenneth Branagh, the movie tells the story of the legendary Norse God of Thunder, sent to Earth to live in human form so he may learn humility as disabled medical student Donald Blake.  Slated for a May 2011 release, the film stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Tom Hiddleston as Loki and Natalie Portman as Jane Foster.  Not much else is known about the film, but we can tell it’s costuming is a pretty spot on replication of Thor’s current costume, first sported in the recent J. Michael Stracynski penned relaunch of Thor.

The following still, released today, is courtesy of Yahoo! Movies.  Click to enlarge!

Kenneth Branagh directs and Chris Hemsworth stars in the film adaptation of Marvel Comics' THOR, hitting theaters May 6, 2011.

Chris Hemsworth as THOR

A former military brat, Christopher currently studies Journalism at a local college, and aspires to one day finally finishing editing that novel he wrote two years ago. He is currently finishing and seeking an artist for his first comic project, SAVIOUR.
