The Killer: Modus Vivendi #2

Writer: Matz

Artist: Luc Jacamon

Translation: Matz and Edward Gauvin

Rating: ★★★★☆

Comics for smart people would probably be a very adequate description of Matz’s The Killer: Modus Vivendi, the story of an assassin trying to get out of the life.  I have to admit, I’ve not heard of this one before.  Much like The Secret History, The Killer is a stateside translation of a foreign comic.  Set in modern day Venezuala, the story is full of intrigue and mystery, and gorgeous, lush backgrounds.  Unfortunately, the story does move a little slow at times, and the translation leaves a few scenes feeling like they’re missing something.  Regardless, The Killer: Modus Vivendi has all the makings of a fantastic story, and is definitely one to be checked out.

A former military brat, Christopher currently studies Journalism at a local college, and aspires to one day finally finishing editing that novel he wrote two years ago. He is currently finishing and seeking an artist for his first comic project, SAVIOUR.
