Hey, better late than never, right?
Gene Hackman lol
Seriously though, if anyone Ice T needs a gritty comic book crossover. The man earned it way back with New Jack City.
So you’re gonna post a review of Rec soon, right?
Hoping to, yes. I am apparently going to have to order a copy online since I can’t find it in stores around here. As soon as it comes in and I watch it, I will put up a review.
Suck Out the Poison is certainly different than their previous albums. I personally enjoyed the album. Glad you like the articles!
I love it. I totally dig the “nerdy professor” look, bowtie and all.
Although I still think that Patrick Stewart should have been the 11th Doctor.
Mmmm Scottish woman. I keep saying I will start watching this show. Good stuff comes from the BBC.
interesting material, where such topics do you find? I will often go
“Rec” was released over here about this time last year, and being a horror fanatic – especially of the “indie” variety – I had to check it out.
Abso-bloody-lutely brilliant. I only found myself looking at the clock when Angela makes it up to the attic – couldn’t believe that it was nearly over. A short, but inspired hour and half.
I’ll never see “Quarantine”, nor will I see an American or Western remake of foreign films. Some things should be just left well alone. I think the US “The Ring” was the only exception, and that wasn’t too bad.
I LOVED “Rec”. An inspired, hugely fun and scary movie that created a terrific atmosphere, and has one of the best endings I’ve seen in a horror movie. (Up there with “The Fog”. The original that is.)
Not seen the US remake but I was HUGELY pissed off to see that the trailer for it SHOWS THE BLOODY ENDING!
I refuse to watch US remakes of movies. If one pops up that sounds good, I ALWAYS hunt out the original instead (“The Ring”, “The Grudge”, “Quarantine” etc…)
Yeah, I agree. It’s usually a safe bet to always avoid the American remake of any foreign horror film.
I think the new Spidey may be a good start to my indoctrination into comicbooks.
Now I guess I find out how far behind the times my local store is. Is there any specific day comicbooks come out? You know, the way DVD’s always come out on Tuesdays etc…
New comics always come out on Wednesday in the US, barring any kind of a federal holiday. Not sure about Canada, though.
That Red House commercial is an intentionally cheesy commercial made by comedy duo Rhett & Link. They have a few commercials like that.
Another needless fucking remake. They could re-release the original, which would cost almost nothing beyond marketing fees, and probably rake in MORE than this piece of shit will take in.
Robert Englund is Freddy. Will always BE Freddy. This pretender can go stick something sharp and pointy up himself and spin.
(As you may gather, I am a fan of Freddy.)
I agree with you, Bonedwarf. I am hoping to do a podcast in the future on how shitty it is that Robert Englund isn’t coming back. Like you said, he IS Freddy.
It’s not like it’s been a long time since he was Freddy. They can’t claim “Oh, time has passed” etc… Freddy vs Jason was only a few years ago. And he did a damn good job in that.
I am so sick of these utterly needless, pointless and ultimately inferior remakes. It’s okay when they take a concept but spin their own version of it. I mean the Dawn of the Dead remake, all it shares in common with Romero’s version is a mall. I really enjoyed that. But Friday the 13th, Halloween etc… WHY, goddamnit, WHY?
You know, I was skeptical about the new Star Trek until I actually saw Sylar (the hell is his real name? Zachary Spock Quinto, I think) play Spock. I think Star Trek is proof that a remake or a reboot CAN [sometimes] be freaking epic!
That said, I’m a huge Nightmare On Elm Street fan. The very first one I watched was Nightmare On Elm Street Part 2 (I was about six, and it was about two years after the movie had originally come out), and that scared the hell out of me. Jackie Earle Haley is an amazing actor. If they’re able to capture the spirit of the original movies and make it fucking scary and awesome and epic, more power to them.
Robert Englund is 62 years old. If he doesn’t want to come back and do another Nightmare movie, then that’s his prerogative. Hopefully the director can do something amazing for this movie and turn it as much into it’s own thing-yet-an homage to the original Nightmare series as the newer Star Trek movie is to the original series.
After some digging, I think the Gary’s Mattress commercial is a fake too. But that doesn’t make it any less hilarious!
Might try to do some kinda “weird commercials” feature weekly.
Wow, that Gary’s one is awesome! Effects from the early 80’s and attitude from the early 60’s!
I AM ALL ABOUT JOHN LITHGOW AS A SERIAL KILLER. SO MUCH SO THAT I CAN’T TAKE MY PINKIE OFF THE SHIFT KEY.
Oh, we all are. I’m really excited to see what he brings to the show.
Is it November yet?
Honestly don’t know why they scheduled this special so close to the two-part finale. Would have made more sense to plonk “Waters of Mars” around August-ish time.
All this seems to be missing is being directed by Sam Raimi or George A. Romero.
Also, where’s my Patrick Stewart? Isn’t he supposed to be on Who before Ten regenerates now that he’s BFFs with David Tennant?
I *do* have a theory as to why it’s so close, pertaining to who’s knocking, but I won’t explain it here. DM or IM me or something and I’ll share it with you, natch.
I have never heard of this band, but I checked them out yesterday and I can’t stop listening to them. They are awesome!
Great post! Just wanted to let you know you have a new subscriber- me!
I watched Combat Shock not too long ago and it was definitely one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen in my life. Nothing happens throughout the entire movie until you get to the last 10 or so minutes. It was just boring and extremely low budget.
This is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. I seriously don’t know how that guy hasn’t been killed by someone by now. I thought that Borat was better, but this was still awesome.
I listened to a few of their songs on youtube and the sound quality was horrible. They would be a whole lot better if it didn’t sound like they recorded it in a garage.
The reason they’re saving it is I can almost guarantee it’ll air during the regular BBC Children in Need telethon. They’ve had a long relationship with Doctor Who. The Five Doctors aired during it. We’ve had two small Who vignettes air, including the fantastic “Time Crash”.
And I really do think that it’ll link in directly, almost a “To Be Continued”, with the final stories.
I almost bought this piece of trash. Dodged that bullet.
I left out the awesome name of the group of villains they’re fighting: the “Global Ultra Society of Dread”.
Watched it yet again… I just can’t get enough of the ending of this trailer.
COME ON NOVEMBER!!!!!
Did you see the leaked one for “The End of Time”? I’d post it, but…ya know, leaked. The quality is shit, but OH MAN. So awesome. *Shrug*
I like to avoid spoilers for the most part, so will be avoiding stuff after The Waters of Mars. I want to know NOTHING about what’s coming. (Beyond what I already know. Like I have a fair idea of who/what is knocking at the end of the trailer.)
Hit reply in the wrong spot. Whoops:)
This is beginning to be far too much for me to handle.
This is some scary shit!
I think I had a small heart attack just from watching that get made.
I think… I think I’m having a heart attack.
I’m numb in my left side.
Help….
Hey very nice blog!! Man .. Beautiful .. Amazing .. I will bookmark your blog and take the feeds also…
Good History. I just want to mention that he also appeared in a few issues of the Outsiders in an effort to free Black Lightning from Jail.
i think i just threw up in my mouth a lil bit from watching that…dear god!!! *gags*
LOL @ the picture of duct tape.
Haha, yeah, I thought the duct tape was appropriate, all things considered.
After seeing this, I can say that I am an “asshole” who hated Cop Out. The chemistry between Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan was non-existent. When Tracy Morgan said the line from Die Hard and Bruce Willis replies with, “Never saw that one”, I think my eyes rolled down the aisle and out of the theater. I don’t think I laughed once in this movie. But yeah, good review, I just thought I would throw my 2 cents in here rather than making another review. So there.
This is a quick list?
Yup. It’s a short week for comics.
The cover for Cable #24 is AMAZING. Definitely one of the best ones I’ve seen.
