New X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Posters May Miss Point Entirely

Remember the marketing for X-MEN and X2: X-MEN UNITED?  Fantastically rendered, visually striking silhouettes of the characters.  X2 had a lot to do, getting over that absolutely horrid sequel title.  So yeah, there’s a history of great marketing in these movies; even the abysmal X-MEN: THE LAST STAND and X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE turned out some really nice posters.

So why, then, have the marketing department behind X-MEN: FIRST CLASS missed the point entirely?

I mean…I get what they’re trying to do.  Silhouetted images of the characters, because they’re trying hard to drive home the fact that this is a prequel and these are supposed to be the same characters you saw in X1-3, but…man, that is a terrible, terrible poster.  By comparison, the earlier posted ones are much nicer…shame they’re the International posters that we likely won’t get.

We’ll see if the marketing is indicative of the quality of the movie soon enough; X-MEN: FIRST CLASS is in theaters June 3.

  1. They are dreadful posters! They look like something a film student would mock up to promote his/her awful thriller. I am very much saddened by these! The first batch are amazing in comparison
