We know Amazing Spider-Man is going to be darker than the previous franchise. We know the comic element of Peter’s parents having a secret history is going to come into play somehow (in the comics, they were actually SHIELD Spies; unlikely to be the case in this film given the SHIELD heavy Avengers is in a film owned by a different company). And we know that Spidey is facing off against The Lizard this time after seeking the truth about his parent’s disappearance.
But the new trailer brings up some more questions: like just who the hell is Connors talking to, and why is he in a holding cell? We’ve already seen that Connors and Peter’s dad worked for Oscorp, has the film already secretly cast it’s Norman Osborn in preparation for the sequel (already in the writing stages)?
Regardless, I’ve got high hopes for the film. I think Andrew Garfield is going to be a damn awesome Spider-Man, the fight sequences look really great and look to utilize Spider-Man’s unique powers in ways that the Raimi films kind of skirted around and I’m really looking forward to seeing how this one shakes out. The Amazing Spider-Man, starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Sally Field and Martin Sheen, lands in theaters July 3.
