CM Punk confirms….a new WWE Championship belt is on the way!

Of course, take this with a grain of salt, but check this shit out (Skip ahead to 33 minutes)

Punk has long been a vocal opposer of the WWE Championship’s current designed, dubbed the “spinner belt”, and when asked at the WWE panel at Wizard World Philidelphia, Punk confirms that there IS a new Championship belt on the way.

The “spinner belt” has been a point of disdain for older fans for it’s tawdry gimmickry and design, a diamond encrusted WWE logo that spins, a throwback to when John Cena first won the title in his Doctor of Thuganomics gimmick and the belt was the top title on Smackdown.

No official word from the WWE, of course, and no pictures of the new belt, but here’s hoping for something a little more vintage.
