‘Storyteller: Dragons’ #1 is a pleasing done-in-one

A done-in-one tale is increasingly rare. A good one? Even rarer.

Story & Art: Daniel Byles

Script: Fabian Rangel

If you’re looking for a done-in-one story that’s all-ages friendly and filled with fantasy, mystery and excitement, then the Jim Henson’s The Storyteller series is for you. The mini-series tend to stick to single issue stories (a rarity these days) but don’t let that fool you into thinking the stories are simple. This time around, the theme is Dragons! Here’s what Archaia says of the release.

What’s to Love: We explored the many different myths and legends about witches in Jim Henson’s The Storyteller: Witches, and we’re thrilled to rejoin the Storyteller and his faithful dog as they explore a whole new set of stories about dragons from talented creators with beautiful and unique styles.
What It Is: Dragons have taken many different shapes in cultures across the world, from serpents and “worms” to thunderbirds and the classic European firebreather. In this first issue, Fabian Rangel Jr. (Mouse Guard: Legends of the Guard) and artist Daniel Bayliss (Translucid) bring us “Son of the Serpent,” inspired by Native American stories about the Horned Snake and the Thunderbird.

Preview pages follow. You can pick up the book December 2 in shops everywhere.
