2006’s MORTAL KOMBAT: ARMAGEDDON was meant to serve as the end of the franchise’s story to date, with plans for the next game to be a reboot. It added a new kart racing game, Motor Kombat, a Kreate-A-Fighter mode, and a new Konquest mode, this time with beat ’em up gameplay.

2005’s MORTAL KOMBAT: DECEPTION continued the story of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, as Shang Tsung and Quan Chi’s efforts resulted in a resurrected villain: Onaga, the Dragon King. In addition to a ton of new characters, MK:D featured new modes like Chess Kombat, Puzzle Kombat, and a new Konquest story mode which defined the game’s story.
