Finally, we’re getting a good Wookie Jedi figure, as “Star Wars: the Black Series” has announced a figure of Kelnacca from “The Acolyte.”
I’ve been a fan of the idea of a Wookie Jedi since I read about Chewbacca’s Force-sensitive nephew, Lowbacca, in “Star Wars: Young Jedi Knights.” But we weren’t able to see one on the big screen until Jedi Master Kelnacca showed up in “Star Wars: The Acolyte.”
Unfortunately, Kelnacca is something of an afterthought, even for “The Acolyte.” Though he plays a pivotal role in the set-up for the show’s tragic events, Kelnacca is very much a side character with an incredibly minimal presence.
That doesn’t change the fact that his “Black Series” figure looks absolutely incredible, though.
I’m still somewhat reluctant to say I collect “The Black Series,” but I really like this Kelnacca. It looks to be the same Wookie body we’ve gotten for a few other figures, but the added cloth cloak and Jedi robes really make him pop.
Sadly, Wookie figures tend to have some articulation issues. I’ve got a “Return of the Jedi” Chewbacca and “Book of Boba Fett”‘s Black Krrsantan. Both figures are gorgeous, but their posibility is pretty limited. Hopefully Kelnaccca can strike enough cool poses to duke it out with your Jedi Master Sol figure.
