Star Wars: Celebration is in full swing, with a ton of hype af Star Wars announcements if that’s your bag. The event already showcased a new look at the upcoming “The Mandalorian & Grogu” and revealed a new upcoming animated series about Darth Maul.
But you’ve been to this site long enough to know we’re all about those toys. I’ve been dragged into buying several “Star Wars: The Black Series” figures just short of kicking and screaming. I’ve got a modest collection, most of which I picked up on my own (and mostly on the cheap at Olllie’s, I will admit).
Tragically, I think I will be buying my first new, full-price “Black Series” figure since…wow, Paz Vizsla last year, actually. That being a pair of new offerings based on the phenomenal “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.”
The first offering is a two-pack featuring the game’s goofiest companions, Turgle and Skoova Stev. I was already sold there, but the figure also includes a new Cal Kestis figure in one of his alternate looks from the game, complete with an alternate mulleted portrait. I’m a huge fan of Cal as a character, but I cannot say no to that dirtbag mullet look.

Turgle is an interesting pick for a figure, but it makes sense. We’ve already gotten a handful of “Jedi: Survivor” figures, including Cal in his default costume and two variations of Dagan Gera.
OK, I joke about Turgle being the best character in the franchise, but I don’t joke about this one: there’s a Nightsister Merrin figure also going up for pre-order. Considering what a fan-favorite she is, it’s honestly wild that this is the first Merrin figure we’ve gotten.

Merrin is hands down the most interesting Star Wars character in decades, and after being woefully underserved by “Jedi: Fallen Order,” she becomes an integral plot element of the sequel. If any character was long overdue a figure on the shelf, it’s her, and I genuinely need her to hang out with the Cal I already have.
Both figures go up for pre-order later today, April 18th. The Cal Kestis, Turgle, & Skoova Steve three-pack will be an Amazon exclusive, while Nightsister Merrin is a general release. Press release and pre-order links follow.

There were several other “Black Series” reveals last night, including the long-anticipated Dash Rendar from “Shadows of the Empire” and reissues of “Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope” renditions of Han Solo and Chewbacca.
