Starkweather: Immortal

Starkweather: Immortal is another one that fell prey to my moving. It’s a shame it did too. I found myself really enjoying the collected edition of the series. It is a bit overwhelming at times, as it spends a large chunk of time in the past without the main character, but all in all it’s an exciting book.
It’s with this one that I also realize a common thread in Archaia’s books. The quality and style prevalent in their books reads more like a movie than a comic. The majority of their books easily lend to a cinematic style, and Starkweather is no exception. The fluid art style and gripping story pulls in the reader and doesn’t let go.
Despite a slow middle and a plot that seems to forget it’s main characters for long periods of time, Starkweather: Immortal is an amazing work of fantasy that stimulates the imagination and is a surefire shoe-in for a big-budget film.
