Iām not a huge fan of Hasbroās 6ā Star Wars, The Black Series, but I do haveā¦well, too many of the figures. They look fine (the photo-real heads theyāve been using lately have occasionally been downright good, even), but thereās not a ton of articulation to really nail those sick lightsaber duel poses, and the series focuses very heavily on characters from extensions of the Star Wars brand that I donāt have a ton of attachment to.
That may be technically true about todayās new announcement, but I canāt deny itās a hell of a figure, and I really hope itās a sign of the direction The Black Series is going in 2026. Hasbro announced an absolutely stunning Lord Starkiller figure coming to the lineās āGaming Greatsā sub-line, and itās honestly so cool that I had to write about it, even if only briefly.
I didnāt finish Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (should I play that on stream? Let me know.), but I played enough to know I donāt hate Starkiller. The Hasbro figure really makes the Lord Starkiller design shine, though. The included lightsabers, the minimalist paint deco, and that badass cloak really give this figure a ton of juice I wasnāt expecting.
Thereās just something about it that really clicks with me. Maybe itās scratching my inner 14-year-old edgelord. Maybe Iām still just a massive sucker for a cool-looking Sith design. Or maybe itās time to admit that I appreciate The Black Series more than I let on.
Itās also nice to see Hasbro is starting to play with wired capes more. I believe theyāve used them on a couple of more premium Darth Vader releases, but after the stellar capes McFarlane Toys put on its DC Multiverse line this past year, it would be criminal if other lines didnāt also start doing this.
(I would say I hope this means theyāll start doing cloth, wired capes for Marvel Legends, but I really donāt want to rebuy new figures just for capesā¦sigh.)
I havenāt technically bought a new Black Series figure in a while (I did pick up discounted figures of The Client and Dagan Gera at Ross just last night, though). I did enthusiastically pre-order Kyle Katarn, a character whom I have been begging for a new figure of for years now. Will I be getting Lord Starkiller, too? I probably wonāt pre-order or outright order him, but if I see him on a peg somewhere, I might have to pick one up.
Will you be picking up Lord Starkiller? Let me know in the comments, or come talk toys and other nonsense with me in the Discord.
