The semi-annual state of the website blog post, and all that jazz.

The Official Post-Holiday Happy Holiday

Hello one and all!

I don’t do these personal blogs often enough.  I honestly intend to; I’d like to have some sort of semi-personal relationship with the many of you who visit this site regularly and keep me from going gray earlier than I already am.

First off, Happy New Years!  We’ve managed to revolve around the sun one more time.  I didn’t think we were going to make it at the end there, but we just kept on a trucking and here we are.  I hope you guys enjoyed your holidays.  We’ve just endured a semi-massive snow (by which I mean 3 inches, Georgia is weird) and have managed to fight out way back to civilized life.  As such, The HomeWorld offices (by which I mean the one man office space in my apartment, and wherever Derek is blogging from these days) are back open full swing today, or at least as full swing as we can get them.

You’ll notice a few continuing additions: the Horror Haven is still up and running, with plans to rejuvenate it in the coming weeks.  You may have also noticed last week was the first on-site mention of The RAW Reactor.  Derek, Cesar and myself have been doing the podcast off and on for about 10 months now, but never really openly promoted it until last week.  We’ll be promoting it more openly now, a lot of which is thanks to you guys: the podcast got 3 times the number of downloads it normally does, coming just shy of 600 and leaving all three of us utterly speechless.  For those of you who didn’t listen to it last week, give it a shot!  The group on-air does the podcast as a live commentary alternative to the on-air commentary, but really we talk about everything but wrestling most of the time.

As always, we’re still open to new writers.  I’m mainly looking for people who can write reviews for comics, movies and/or music for the main site, or anyone who can write up blogs about wrestling for The RAW Reactor’s site (not just WWE, we’d like to cover all aspects if possible).  If you’re interested, shoot me an e-mail at christopher.baggett@thehomeworld.net.  Also, we’re looking for anyone to review horror movies for The Horror Haven; if you’re interested, send Derek an e-mail at derk@thehomeworld.net.  Posting schedules are very light (we only ask for a minimum of one or two articles per week at the moment) and we’ll try to help with proper formatting and structure as best we can, but you’re coming in at the same level we are; unfortunately, that also means there isn’t any pay at this juncture, but I like to think we’re a pretty good place to get a start as a writer, frankly.

And finally, a huge thank you to all of you who are reading this.  We’re approaching our 2 year anniversary, and thanks to continued support from our regular readers (who I know are out there, since I keep seeing the hits go up!) and the amazing publishers, writers, artists and others who have reached out to us, The HomeWorld continues to thrive and grow.  We’re expanding our horizons now that we’re in our terrible twos, and looking to bring you bigger, better content, all with the goal of entertaining you as much as we inform you.  Thanks again, and we look forward to spending 2011 with you.
