The Pull List! An ‘Elseworlds’ DC debut & more!

Hell of a week so far! Man of Steel TV spot, Dolph Ziggler is the World Heavyweight Champ, why not celebrate it by bringing back a fan favorite female character to become a member of the Bat-family!? No, it’s not Cass. …uh, no, it’s not Steph, either. Well, okay, this whole thing may backfire, but here’s your Pull List for April 10, 2013 nonetheless.

Batman & Red Robin #19
Batman & Red Robin (Vol. 2) #19

Batman & Red Robin #19

Published by DC Comics / By Peter J. Tomasi, Patrick Gleason, Mick Gray

Solicit: “On the darkest of nights, who is the one person Batman meets that could change his life forever?”

Look, I won’t blow smoke up your arse, DC already leaked the gatefold cover, and it’s Carrie Kelly of The Dark Knight Returns fame and The Dark Knight Strikes Again infamy. We’re not sure the conditions under which Carrie is introduced, but it’s safe to say the list of movies Damien had, initialed by a “CK”, isn’t from Clark Kent as originally believed. Will Carrie be a long term Robin? Probably not; this month’s gatefold cover gimmicks tend to be teases and surprises, and it looks like Harper Row is getting groomed for that role. Regardless, the introduction of an Elseworld’s character to a main DC line is a big deal, even bigger that this is DCnU. This’ll be a solid one for your collection, regardless.

Wolverine (Vol. 5) #2

Wolverine #2

Published by Marvel Comics / By Paul Cornell, Alan Davis

Solicit: “HUNTING SEASON, PART 2! Wolverine has to track down a boy on a rampage before he does the unthinkable!”

I’m…probably incredibly biased. I dig the hell out of Paul Cornell’s work on Doctor Who and Demon Knights, and Alan Davis….I mean, Jesus Christ, it’s Alan Davis, his work is just gorgeous, and draws an iconic Wolverine. The first issue was a great thriller, opening with Wolverine’s healing factor being tested to it’s limits and an 11th hour twist that you only saw coming if you’d seen this cover before. I’m genuinely intrigued as to where the opening “Hunting Season” arc is going, and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next issue. Plus, we finally found out where Wolverine keeps all those spare costumes hidden. Awesome little touches like that make the books.
