Set to face off with Michael Scott.

Ricky Gervais Comes to THE OFFICE US

With Steve Carell leaving THE OFFICE, Derk and I are pretty sad; we love the show, and were once upon a time far too invested in the will they/won’t they of Jim & Pam, to the point that it was honestly a little bit sad.  I’m still willing to give the show a shot, but I just don’t see how it can continue without Michael Scott at the helm.

Well, we’re at least getting a big send-off before he goes, including one crossover fans have been clamoring for for years.

Sources confirm that Ricky Gervais is poised to reprise his role from the original overseas version of the comedy in an upcoming episode of the U.S. redo. As you’d expect, details are sketchy. But what I’m being told is that Gervais — who not only created the British Office but retains an exec producer title on the American remake — will cross paths (and perhaps swords?) with his Yank counterpart, Steve Carell’s Michael.

I mean, that’s pretty cool, right?  I know a lot of people are lukewarm at best to Gervais, but I enjoyed his stint on THE OFFICE, and I look forward to seeing how this one pans out.  How about you guys?
